Eikos Planning Inc. was restructured in 2000 to meet the needs of public and private clients who require advice in three areas of expertise: Governmental Affairs, General Land Use Planning and Design and Memorial Park Planning and Design.

  Vancouver Hot Spots is a website series of articles about development issues and trends in Vancouver and surrounding region. The Hot Spots articles are an overview on a wide range of subjects of planning, social, environmental and political interest. The articles indicate where and what kind of future development is likely to take place and there are convenient website links for more detailed information. Most of the articles are written by Art Cowie and have been published in professional publications.

  Governmental Affairs is important, especially as society experiences the effects of increased public activism. A first step in any private or publicly initiated development is to identify potential issues of community concern and outline a plan for dealing with them. Art Cowie has many years of experience including arranging meetings with elected officials and community leaders, organizing public information sessions, conducting surveys, making presentations at public hearings and preparing recommendations.

  Land Use Planning and Design represents a large part of the work undertaken by Eikos. Assignments include project planning advice, property search, commercial and residential site planning, project approvals, park planning and design and implementation of natural landscapes.

  Memorial Park Planning and Design has become an Eikos specialty in the last few years. Art Cowie has worked with associated firms of designers and trades people to create a socially and environmentally accepted contemporary approach to memorialization. This approach is especially suitable for municipal and smaller private cemeteries.

  RememberNow Cyber Memorial Service Eikos is dedicated to building an online memorial service on the Internet. This is essentially an Internet version of an obituary notice in a newspaper. The service will be available at funeral homes and at memorial gardens.
